Mining Water

The Ultraflux MinisonicP Portable Clamp On Ultrasonic Flowmeter

Background

Cleveland Potash is a mine in the Northeast that produces potash for the fertilizer industry. The mine is 1 km deep and stretches end to end for 15km.

The Problem

As with any deep mine water ingress it is an ongoing battle requiring constant pumping out of the infiltration flows. Pumps have to be maintained and there has to be a spare pump in reserve, in case of pump failures. The pipework itself is an extra heavy weight schedule suitable for >100 bar pressure as the liquid head is >1000m. The fluid being pumped is a Potash Brine solution and the liquid density is far greater than that of water.

Flowline's Metering Solution

The Ultraflux MinisonicP Portable Flow Meter designed to clamp on to the outside of a pipe, the meter can be used on pipes from 10 mm 3300mm diameter, depending on the sensors selected and the application requirements. It can be used on a whole range of liquids, from pure water, fuel and refrigerants to brines, sludge’s and solid laden liquids. It is designed to suit a more conservative pocket and offers a digital display of flow rate and total, with industry standard outputs if logged flows are required. It comes with free software which is very simple to use, and when used with the meter, the software will automatically export data to excel and draw a graph.
