Flow sensors designed specifically for operation with a wide range of liquids in both safe and hazardous areas, in hygienic, high temperature and high pressure environments and for use with aggressive media.
Whether your application be simple pump protection for clean water duty, or to detect very low flow rate of an aggressive chemical then we have a solution. The thermal transfer technique (also know as the calorimetric principle) of flow measurement is well proven and provides the user with a flexible and robust sensing element ideal for many different duties in the water, chemical, pharmaceutical and medical fields.
The principle of operation of the flow controller is based on thermodynamics. The sensor is heated internally a few degrees C compared to the medium into which it projects. When the medium flows, the heat that has been generated in the sensor is conducted away by the medium, i. e. the sensor cools down. The temperature within the sensor is measured and compared to the temperature of the flow. The state of flow can be derived for each medium by the temperature difference attained.
Different products have different cooling effects so the flow sensors we offer for liquid applications are different from the flow sensors we offer for gas flow monitoring applications.
We offer both flow switches and flow sensors. A flow switch is generally used as a low flow alarm or a high flow alarm, whereas a flow sensor will give you an analogue (4 to 20 milliamps) proportional to flow velocity.
