| BACKGROUND: Anglian Water conducted an audit of 450 sewage treatment works handling populations of 1000 and above. this audit highlighted many cases of either non-existent or out of specification. This site had an existing flume which was 15 metres long by 3 metres square, the turbulence on the inlet to the flume made accurate flow readings impossible. |

| THE PROBLEM:
Rebuilding the existing flume would have been extremely expensive and required the flows to be by-passed or pumped. The customer also required a rapid installation and commissioning. |
FLOWLINE'S METERING SOLUTION:
was installed in the old flume after a straight 1.5 metre wide concrete channel had been cast inside the flume. From order placement to commissioning took only 5 working days. Installation was carried out by Flowline using confined space equipped personnel. Flows were not interrupted or by passed. All installations were supplied with compliance certification. | ||||||||
| EQUIPMENT DESCRIPTION: The Marsh McBirney Model 253 is an electromagnetic open channel or partially filled pipe flow meter. The system uses a single sensor mounted at the bottom of the channel to measure both the velocity and the depth of the flow. the remote mounted control unit calculates and display's both flowrate and total and outputs industry standard signals. The Model 253 has recently been evaluated by NEL on behalf of the DTI, a full independent report will be published shortly. Full user lists and references are available. | |||||||||
